ZEN2 got his start in Wichita, KS on a set of Gemini belt drive turntables and a mixer with no eq borrowed from a friend. Frustrated with his hometown’s candy raver infested weekend plur puddles, he began assaulting ears with a signature blend of breakbeat infested dark jungle and hip hop in 2000.
A pair of 1200s later he hooked up with current crew member Craveone and gained notoriety as the duo’s infamous floor filling 2×2 tagteam D&B sets began murdering dancefloors in the Midwest. Soon he had several club residencies under his belt along with numerous underground events and house parties.
In addition to his ability to rock a crowd with mind gelling jacked up breakbeats and spine shattering bass, ZEN2 has repeatedly demonstrated a more introspective, artistic side through special events and side projects. In 2002, he was invited to perform at the Wichita Center for the Arts where he broke new ground by rescoring classic silent cinema with a pair of turntables and a stack of wax. This innovative performance received widespread critic acclaim and his new version of “Nanook of the North” was later broadcast on PBS. The event was met with such incredible success that the Arts Center turned what ZEN2 had intended as a one-off into a series of concerts that continues to this day true to his intended form of turntable rescoring.
ZEN2 now resides in Richmond, VA and continues to put out hard dubplates in many styles, most notably jungle, hip hop, and dub.
