About:
Roll first stumbled upon the jungle sound in 97, and shortly after, set up his first “studio” in his bedroom. Breaks and bass were on the brain. After a dissapointing rash of tech-step in the late 90s, Roll began to find comfort in the calm styles of hip hop. He purchaced his first turntable and began sampling old records. Digging through the crates became an everyday activity and the thirst for “black crack” consumed him. Producing beats was the first ingredient, the second lay between the crossfader and the thumb.Since then, Roll has been producing for 6 years, blending a steady mix of hip hop, jungle, and scratching. With influences stemming from early dj Shadow and Danny Breaks records. Roll’s compositions are a collage of funk, dub, psycadelic rock, rare groove, and classical samples; chopped and blended to perfection. Pulling from a background in jazz and classical, his compositions maintain a “live” feel caged within a beeping MIDI clock.
“Life is a never ending cycle, why can’t we put music through it too?”
